“I strongly believe that if everyone did theater, we would have world peace— and I’m adamant about both. Even at the community level, whether they’re performers, crew members, or musicians, you bring them together in this whole beautiful temporary area where they can open themselves, share themselves, push themselves, and find themselves. How I got into theater is a funny story. My sister, who is eight years older than I am, always did plays. When she was Cinderella in high school, they needed little townspeople, so that was my very first play, and I’ve been doing it ever since. One of my most memorable roles was when I played Elvira in ‘Blithe Spirit’ and my husband, Tim Good, played Charles. In it, I was dead, and I came back during a séance to try to get him to die so we could be together. We had a lot of fun together, challenged each other, and worked on our lines every afternoon on the porch. I’m okay with doing less acting now. I like to direct more— I directed ‘Annie’ last summer at the playhouse. I just never liked that play, but I had an amazing group. We had to add two extra performances, and we still sold out. Teaching theater is my big passion. Seeing students light up, finding a bit of themselves, and finding more confidence than they had before is so rewarding.”
