Carl Jones, a conservationist who has lead successful efforts to save nine endangered species, will be speaking at DePauw University on October 13.

Jones work has been primarily focused in the island nation of Mauritius located in the Indian Ocean. His conservation campaigns have helped save species such as the pink pigeon and echo parakeet.

In 2016, Jones received the Indianapolis prize, an award created by the Indianapolis Zoo to honor an individual who has made large contributions to conservation.

Jones' speech is titled "Lessons from the Dodo-saving species and rebuilding ecosystems in Mauritius." The lecture will be given in the University Ballroom and will be followed by a questions and answer period.

The session is free and will be open to the general public.
