The men's soccer team recorded a season-high three goals Saturday as it defeated host Franklin College, 3-0.DePauw got on the board quickly when senior midfielder Kaes Kamman scored an unassisted goal at the 11:00 mark.

Despite the team's early lead, Kamman said the majority of the match was a dogfight, as the score remained 1-0 until late in the second half.

The Tigers extended their lead on goals by senior Adam Davis, assisted by freshman Andrew Desmarais at 83:00, and freshman Shelton Graves, assisted by sophomore Gary Pett at 89:00.

In the 3-0 win, DePauw outshot Franklin 17-6, and tallied six corner kicks to Franklin's three.

Junior Ted Jacobi, who is a columnist for The DePauw, recorded two saves in goal for the Tigers, while Franklin's Brad Phillips, a freshman, had five saves and allowed three goals.

Kamman said the team has struggled with scoring lately, but hopes that the three goals scored Saturday will provide momentum for future games, including upcoming contests against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents.

"It was nice to be able to find the back of the net," Kamman said. "Everyone came in and worked really hard."

With the shutout win, the Tigers improved to 4-1-3 on the season. The loss drops Franklin to 2-8 overall.

DePauw defeated Franklin 6-0 during the 2007 season, and holds the advantage in the series' history, 14-0.

The team will return to SCAC play Wednesday when it travels to Jackson, Miss. for an important match against Millsaps (5-6, 1-1 SCAC).
