A solid second half doesn't even begin to describe it. When it comes to junior guard Cassie Pruzin's play this past Saturday against Trinity University in Texas, it was the best second half of her career. Pruzin put together 27 points to help the No. 13 Tigers overcome a one-point deficit at halftime to win 68-51.

Despite her record-setting performance, Pruzin was unavailable for comment by press time.

The career night started after Pruzin knocked down a three-pointer just over a minute into the second half. The shot gave the Tigers the lead and started an 18-0 run that would keep the Tigers ahead for good.

"It was huge [the 18-0 run]," senior guard Gretchen Haehl said. "I think our defense was really strong in the second half, and we put together a lot of good shots. They couldn't really answer us."

Pruzin's career half came right when the team needed it most. The Tigers averaged only 25 percent from the field for the first half to score 23 points. The second half the players would 48.3 percent from the field, with Pruzin scoring over half of the team's 45 second half points.

"A lot of our games this season everyone has their on and off games. ... [This was] really huge for her because the post-play was tough and wasn't scoring much," said sophomore forward Jenna Fernandez. "So for her to come out and make her shots outside and then driving as well was great."

Pruzin played well to end the weekend, but it was the team as a whole that should be commended Friday to defeat Southwestern University 55-45. The Tigers were only ahead by four with 2:30 remaining, but would only allow Southwestern two points the rest of the game to secure the victory. Fernandez led the Tigers in that game with 20 points, followed by Pruzin with 17.

The two victories brought the team to 17-3 overall and 10-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The win extends their streak to six and keeps them undefeated in the conference with only four conference games remaining.

"We have a really strong conference so every win counts, and it is huge for us [to be undefeated in conference]," Fernandez said. "This weekend coming in we knew these teams would give us good games and we were ready to come out and play them and give them everything and then win."
