DePauw and Delta Zeta National Sorority jointly announced Thursday that a resolution has been reached terminating the civil lawsuit between the two parties.
DZ sued the University last spring, claiming it had broken a promise with the sorority when it severed ties with the national organization.
According to an e-mail sent by Delta Zeta National President Michelle Smith to alumnae of DePauw's chapter, the settlement of the lawsuit does not slam the door shut on a second incarnation of the chapter.
"Although Delta Zeta does not have a chapter on campus, the parties have agreed that with support of a group of DePauw Delta Zeta alumnae, Delta Zeta National Sorority will have the opportunity to seek a return to campus beginning in academic year 2010/11," she said.
Delta Zeta originally conducted a membership review of the DePauw chapter last November. Twenty-nine members were asked to vacate the house and be placed on alumni status.
