Angela Flury, professor of English, was arrested Nov. 4 at 2:52 a.m. by the Putnam County Police Department for driving while intoxicated. The police report could not be obtained by press time.
"I deeply regret my grave error in judgment," Flury said. "I try to accept responsibility for my actions, and this is no exception. I hope to learn from my mistakes."
Ken Owen, executive director of media relations, said the University is monitoring this case, although DePauw does not comment on personal and active investigations.
"It is important to stress that a person is innocent until proven guilty in the American judicial system," Owen said. "It's also important to note that the incident apparently took place while the professor was off duty and is thus a personal matter."
