The men's golf team set records and won the team title as hosts of the Small College Classic this weekend.

DePauw set a tournament record the first day with a 293 team total and ended Sunday with a record 591 team score for the tournament. Lindenwood University took second with a team total of 597.

Freshman Chase King led the Tigers with a record-setting score of 67 on Sunday and a 143 two-day total. Senior Rob Harper and junior Danny Stetson added 148 and 149 scores, respectively.

"The team played well, but we got a strong boost from Rob Harper's 69 on Saturday and Chase King's 67 on Sunday," said head coach Vince Lazar via e-mail. "Danny Stetson also had the best tournament of his college career."

Sophomores Peter Haller and Jake Walsh rounded out the team play for the Tigers by shooting 152 and 155 respectively. Individual DePauw player Michael Reed finished the classic with a 150 and a 10th-place finish.

Lazar said the team has been shooting to narrow fairways and playing from short tees to get in a "scoring" mentality in preparation for the weekend tournament.

King, Harper and Stetson made the all-tournament team. Franklin College Jon Dold won medalist honors with a 137 weekend score and also received all-tournament honors.

"It was a great team effort because there was not one guy that really stood out from the rest," Harper said. "We all did what we needed to do to win and those who left shots out there on Saturday made up for it on Sunday."

The Tigers next outing will be at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio on Sunday and Monday; It will be the last tournament for the Tigers this fall.
