The field hockey team improved its overall record to 8-4 with its sixth straight win over the weekend, defeating Northern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents Wooster College and Transylvania University.
DePauw also remained unbeaten at home with a 5-2 victory over Transylvania.
"I think part of it is having a fan base there," said midfielder Kate Dobbins. "We're more used to our field."
The five goals against Transylvania represent the highest offensive production the Tigers have had in a single game all season.
Junior forward Beth Seegers, who contributed to the attack with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute, said part of the team's recent success can be attributed to its depth. She said this wasn't the case when the team started out at 2-4.
"We felt like we were losing our team, said Seegers, who registered a goal and an assist in DePauw's 3-2 road win over Wooster. "We were down two players then we had an ACL tear, but now we're getting our team back."
Sophomore forward Sarah Riffle returned from a stress fracture, scoring two goals in the Transylvania game. The return of Riffle and junior forward Meredith Ellis has helped DePauw overcome its difficult start.
"We kind of started out with not much confidence," Dobbins said. "Having more bodies gives you more confidence and allows you to play harder because you know that you don't have to play for 70 minutes. ... Everyone on our team has gotten stronger because we all had to step up our game due to the injuries."
