Acclaimed author Kent Haruf read a chapter from Plainsong, his most well-known work, Wednesday night to a medium-sized crowd in East College's Meharry Hall. He introduced his session by talking about his experience as a writer, professor, father and former Peace Corps volunteer from a small town in eastern Colorado. Following his reading, he answered questions asked by audience members. Haruf has also written Eventide, a companion piece to Plainsong, as well as Where You Once Belonged and The Tie That Binds.
