Response Column: Distorting the truth on global warming


Jake Brereton's Nov. 17 article on the elusive nature of global warming provides a troubling example of the elusive nature of the public understanding of not only climate change, but science in general. Whether 57 percent, 77 percent, or even if 99 percent of the public believed climate change due to human influences is or isn't happening isn't relevant; what is relevant is the scientific evidence.… 7 Comments

Course selection process seen as unethical After speaking to quite a few students and faculty members on campus, it would seem as though the issue of class selection has been elevated from an issue of annoyance to one of ethics. As many students experienced at the end of last year, again this semester it was nearly impossible to get into enough classes to be considered a full-time student, let alone fulfill competence, group and lab requirements.… Post the First Comment

Have realistic expectations for campus movements


Human trafficking has claimed 27 million victims, and it's the third largest criminal activity in the world. We've probably supported the capture and exploitation of migrant workers. It could have been by eating a Nestle crunch bar, or enjoying a Thanksgiving dinner without thinking about the production process behind the foods.… Post the First Comment
