Faculty vote to end Russian studies major
After much debate over the future of the Russian studies major, DePauw faculty decided to remove it during Monday's faculty meeting.

Campus composting, Energy Wars continue green efforts
Although the new dishes in the Hub are black and white, campus dining is going green. With the reintroduction of the reusable dishware and the new arrivals of composting cans, Food Services has increased its environmental sustainability.
Food Services General Manager Steve Santo said that the composting cans had arrived but had not been put into use until after spring break, delaying the reintroduction of the dishes, which appeared briefly earlier this semester.…

Speaker highlights importance of public awareness of genocide
Monday night, the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics hosted Jerry Fowler, recently tabbed to be president of the Save Darfur Coalition, for a talk entitled "Darfur: The Challenge of Stopping Genocide."
Fowler, the former head of the Committee on Conscience at the National Holocaust Museum, opened the talk by discussing the origins of the term "genocide," which was coined during the Holocaust by legal scholar Raphael Lemkin in 1943.…

Service tournaments prove successful, raise money
Two tournaments - Nothing but Nets 3 on 3 and World Swim Against Malaria - were held in honor of African Issues Awareness Week and Malaria Awareness Day in the Lilly Center. Together the two events raised about $800.
The purpose of the events was to raise money to purchase, distribute and educate people on the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets to families living in western and central sub-Saharan Africa.…

Ethics symposium brings together students, professors
DePauw University's Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics hosted students and professors from schools across the country to discuss various ethical issues April 3-5. The symposium began Thursday night and ended Saturday afternoon.
